The idea is to present a few of my most recent poems, add to them or replace them as time goes on without making the page too long to bother with.

SKYLARKING

A woodlouse crawls
across the skylight.
What are you doing
among the clouds
earthling?

WHY DO YOU NEED TO KNOW

Why do you need to know?
he said
which made me wonder
Why does he need to know?

QUE SAIS-JE?

Fledgling blackbird
no experience
yet scuffs up leaves
looking for something

looks up and says
what do I know?

Infant in the schoolyard
kicks up leaves
saying to himself
I know this
is the first time
leaves have fallen.

LOG MAN

He noticed these things
– he had his reason –
the dead ash rotten to its ashen core
beckoning to him for years
with its crooked arms
from the top of the hill,
conifer pining for release
to be laid to rest
through winter’s season,
acacia deprived of its avenue
its yellow sawdust spilt
like pollen, the oak’s heart split,
laid bare to one who always sees
the wood among the trees.

NEST

I find myself here
without instructions
but instructed.
